Activating Resources

There are three ways to acquire and activate a Resource using the GGFL Marketplace:

  • SSO and Provisioning Connectors: An SSO or Provisioning Connector may be activated and used without cost. See The Activate Tab (opens a new article) and SSO and Provisioning Connectors.
  • Free Trial: Paid Resources in the GGFL Marketplace include a free trial period that allows you and the users who will be using that Resource to evaluate it for potential purchase and long-term use for the amount of time specified in the Period column. See The Free Trial Tab (opens a new article) and Free Trials.
  • Purchase: Purchasing a Resource makes it available to as many users as you purchase licenses for the duration of those licenses. The Buy Tab (opens a new article) and  Purchasing Resources.

Free Trials

Free trials for paid Resources in the Marketplace are available for full use without cost for a limited period of time in order for you and the assigned users to evaluate the Resource for potential purchase for the duration specified in the Period column. • To activate the product for one or more (but not all) of the Organizations and sub-Organizations in your hierarchy, check the Per Siteradio button to open the My Organizations popup. Check the checkbox(es) that correspond to the Organization(s) to which you want to grant access to this Resource, and then click the Submit button to return to the Free Trials tab of the Product
  • Details screen with those Organizations selected.

Note: You may use the Search functionality and the navigation buttons to navigate the table to find the appropriate Organization(s), if needed.

  1. If you still need to add one or more Organization(s), then click the Add Site button to return to the My Organizations popup. If you add an organization by mistake, click the Remove link for that Organization.

Note: Vendors may limit both the time period and/or the number of users who can access a free Resource at their sole discretion.

Note: Upgrading from a free trial to a paid version transfers over all existing configurations for seamless continuity of use.

Purchasing Resources

Purchasing a paid Resource in the Marketplace makes that Resource fully available for use by any number of users (up to licensed maximum) for the full duration of the licensing period (one to five years), after which you will no longer be able to access that Resource. To purchase a paid Resource:

  1. In either the GGFL Marketplace or Product Details screen, click the Buy button for the paid Resource that you want to evaluate. The Buy tab of the Product Details screen appears (see The Buy Tab (opens a new article)).
  2. Select the currency to use using the Currency pull-down menu.
  3. Select the pricing model to use, as follows:
  • To activate the product for up to a specified maximum number users at your Organization and any sub-Organization(s), check the For All Users radio button. Proceed to Step 4.
  • To activate the product for all of the users at one or more of the Organizations and sub-Organizations in your hierarchy, check the Per Site radio button to open the My Organizations popup. Skip to Step 5.
  1. Enter the total number of licenses to purchase in the Capacity field. Some Resources allow you to enter the number of licenses that you need, and you will be charged the per-license fee. For other Resources, enter the total number of licenses and then check the appropriate radio button to select the licensing term. The total cost to purchase this Resource depends on both how many licenses you are purchasing and for how long. Increasing the number of licenses decreases the cost per license, as does increasing the licensing period, as follows:
  • 1-30 users: You must purchase 30 licenses. This option has the highest per-user cost.
  • 31-500 users: You must purchase 500 licenses.
  • 501-1,000 users: You must purchase 1,000 licenses.
  • From 1,001 to 5,000 users: You must purchase 5,000 licenses.
  • 5,001 to one million users: You may purchase the exact number of licenses you need.
  • This option has the lowest per-license cost. The per-license cost of purchasing 5,001 licenses may be higher than the per-license cost of purchasing a higher number of licenses. Consult EduTone or the vendor to inquire about the specific per-license costs to meet your needs.

  • 1 year license: Minimum license period, and highest per-license cost.
  • 2-4 year license: Lower per-license cost as you increase the number of years.
  • 5 year license: Maximum license period, and lowest per-license cost.

In this pricing model, purchasing 30 licenses for one year has the highest possible per-license cost, while purchasing more than 5,000 licenses for five years has the lowest possible per-license cost.

Note: If you need to purchase fewer than 5,000 licenses, consider combining smaller purchases. For example, if you need 3,500 licenses, then consider making three 1,000-user purchases and a single 500-user purchase. You can enter different numbers in the Capacity field to analyze the total cost of the various options to determine the lowest-cost purchase(s) that will suit your needs. You may do this by either using the For All Users option to make multiple purchases; you may also make purchases on a per-Organization (Per Site) basis, as described in Step 5, below.

If you want to purchase the Resource for all users in your Organization, then skip to Step 6.

  1. To activate the product for one or more (but not all) of the Organizations and sub-Organizations in your hierarchy, check the Per Site radio button to open the My Organizations popup. Check the checkbox(es) that correspond to the Organization(s) to which you want to grant access to this Resource, and then click the Submit button to return to the Buy tab of the Product Details screen with those Organizations selected. You may then select both the number of licenses to purchase and the license term as described in Step 4, above.

Note: You may use the Search functionality and the navigation buttons to navigate the table to find the appropriate Organization(s), if needed.

If you still need to add one or more Organization(s), then click the Add Site button to return to the My Organizations popup. If you add an organization by mistake, click the Remove link for that Organization.

Note: Purchasing licenses on a per-site basis may not be the most cost-effective method, since each site is subject to the per-license costs described in Step 3. For example, if you have five sub-Organizations with 1,000 users per Organization, then you will pay a higher total cost by purchasing five 1,000-license bundles (one for each Organization) than by checking the For All Users radio button and making a single 5,000-license purchase.

  1. Check the By adding this service to my cart... checkbox, and then click the Add to Cart button.
  2. The product will now be added to the Shopping Cart, where either you or your parent Organization can complete the purchase. See The Shopping Cart Screen and Completing Purchases (links open new articles).
